We had a local movie “Spanish Masala” shot in Spain and the hero is a dosa cook in Spain. When he returned to Kerala, he thought he can continue serving food to people back home. And he started an authentic traditional restaurant in Cochin to serve a favourite dish of Keralites “Puttu”-A delicious dish made out of rice/wheat/raggi/maize etc. cooked in steam served with local curries. The unique feature of their Puttu is that they introduced more than 100 varieties which was an innovation. A lot of local families eat here because of the reasonable prices at a decent environment.
5. Grand Hotel, M G Road, Ernakulam
Opened in 1920s for Cochin people to serve traditional cuisine especially the seafood specialities. This restaurant is still a favourite of many tourists visiting city. Their seafood varieties like Meen Pollichathu, Meen Mappas curry, Kuttanadan Duck Roast etc. are the highlights. If you need mild spicy, please let them know once you place the order. This restaurant has a bar.
6. Asiatic Restaurant at Cochin Club
Cochin Club is a prestigious British Club which carries the colonial flavor still. As entry restricted to members and invitees, it still keeps the serenity from the crowd. Asiatic Restaurant inside the Club served authentic Asian Cuisine. Opens for lunch and runs through till late night. Cochin Club is located opposite to Parade Ground, Fort Kochi.
7. Anjappar Chettinadu Restaurant, Vyttila
Chettinadu village in Tamilnadu is known for its richness in its Mansions and a unique cuisine. Anjappar Restaurant at Vyttila, Cochin serves authentic Chettinadu cuisine. This special cuisine is unique because of the aroma and flavour of a fine mix of specific spices.
