A short visit in Delhi is just an icing on the cake. Some historic points like Kargil, unique Houseboat experiences in Srinagar, visits in Leh and visits to the numerous monasteries on daily basis will add color to your dreams. We assure you that this will give you a totally different perspective on India.
Lotus Temple, New Delhi
Day 01 – Delhi Arrival
On arrival at Delhi, you will be transferred to your hotel. Afternoon go for a short orientation tour of Delhi driving past India Gate, Parliament building etc. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 02 – Delhi
After breakfast leave for full day city tour visiting Qutab Minar, India gate (war memorial), Lakshminarayan Temple - modern Hindu temple, drive past President's House, Parliament House & Secretariat Building. Afternoon sightseeing of Old Delhi visit Rajghat & Shanti Vana (the cremation sites of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru), Jama Masjid and drive past Red fort and Chandni Chowk. Overnight in hotel.
Day 03 – Delhi / Leh
Take your early morning flight to Leh. On arrival met by our representative with traditional welcome and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day free at leisure to rest and acclimatize to high altitude and low oxygen levels in Leh which is at an altitude of 3504 M above sea level. Afternoon tale a leisurely walk to visit Leh monastery, Leh palace and local bazaar. Overnight in hotel.
Day 04 – Leh
After breakfast leave for visit Shankar monastery, Shanti Stupa and Spituk monasteries. Afternoon visit Stok Palace and Museum. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 05 – Leh
Morning proceed for sightseeing of Shey, old summer palace with 12 feet statue of Buddha: Thikse, the superbly situated Monastery on a hilltop overlooking the village and the indus river and Hemis Monastery the richest and the largest Monastery of the area. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 06 – Leh – Nurla (70 kms / 2 Hrs approx)
After breakfast leave for Nurla enroute visit Phyang monastery, Basgo Castle and Alchi monastery. Proceed to Nurla. Evening free at leisure. Overnight at hotel.
Day 07 – Nurla – Lamayuru – Kargil (164 kms / 6 hrs approx)
After breakfast proceed to Kargil. Enroute visit Lamayuru monastery. Later cross over Fatula Pass (4147 M) which is the highest pass on Leh – Kargil highway. Stop to visit Mulbekh Monastery. Check in hotel for overnight stay.
Day 08 – Kargil – Padum (Jeep, 234 kms / 8 – 9 hrs approx)
After breakfast leave for Padum via Parkachik and Panikhar. On a clear day you can have a view of the majestic peaks of Nun and Kun. Enroute visit Ringdom monastery. On arrival check in hotel. Overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 09 – Padum
After breakfast leave for visit to Karsha monastery which is a replica of the Potala Palace of Tibet. Return to Padum. Afternoon visit Pipi Tong and Stagnimo monasteries. Overnight in hotel.
Day 10 – Padum – Kargil
After breakfast retrace the route back to Kargil. Enroute visit Sani monastery. On arrival check in hotel for overnight stay.
Day 11 – Kargil – Srinagar (204 kms / 7 hrs approx)
After breakfast drive to Srinagar via Drass (the 2nd coldest inhabited place in the world after Siberia) and Zojilla Pass. On arrival in srinagar transfer to Dal Lake for a Shikara transfer (Local Boat) to your houseboat. Evening free at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay on houseboat.
Day 12 – Srinagar
Morning leave for half day tour of Mughal Gardens, Nishat -"the Garden of pleasure, Shalimar - "the Abode love and Charma Shahi - "the Royal Spring". Afternoon visit the Shankracharya temple and Carpet weaving factory. Evening 1 – 2 hours Shikara ride on Dal Lake Dinner and overnight on houseboat.
Day 13 – Srinagar - Gulmarg - Srinagar
After early breakfast leave for Gulmarg (52 kms / 1 ½ hrs approx) also known as the “Meadow of Flowers”. The road from Srinagar rises gently towards the lower stopes of the Pirpanjal range passing through rice and maize fields. Gulmarg is paradise for Golfers and for winter sports. On a clear day one can have clear view of Nanga Parbat (5th highest mountain in the world) also of Wular Lake, the largest Fresh Water Lake of Asia. Day free at your own leisure. Evening return drive to Srinagar. Overnight on houseboat.
Day 14 – Srinagar / Delhi
After leisurely breakfast leave Srinagar and proceed to airport for flight to Delhi. On arrival in Delhi transfer to an airport hotel. Later you will be transferred to Delhi International Airport to connect your flight home.
